Lena the Ballerina · Amigurumi Crochet Doll Pattern

This amigurumi doll design is very special to me! I modeled her after my daughter, Lena Rose, who is an avid little ballet dancer. She loves how her "mini me" doll turned out, and I hope you will love it too!

Lena the Ballerina Doll is a very low-sew amigurumi pattern with two hairstyles: pigtails and a bun. The doll itself is completely no-sew, and the only time you'd pick up your yarn needle is to attach the hair cap to the head. This quick and easy pattern is versatile and creates an adorable little ragdoll style doll, perfect for cuddling, carrying around, and playing with.

It’s the perfect birthday gift or Christmas holiday gift for girls who love ballet! My toddler, who has been taking dance lessons since she just turned two, loves having this mini ballerina version of herself.

About the Pattern

  • No-sew doll (sewing is only required for attaching the hair cap to the head)
  • Fast and easy project
  • 9-inch tall doll
  • Comes with two different hairstyles (bun & pigtails)

Details

While this design may look simple and clean, I've incorporated some special crochet techniques to add detail to the doll. For instance, take a look at the neat edging and shoulder straps of the ballerina's top!

A bit of embroidery can go a long way, too! Look at the pretty criss-cross straps of her ballet shoes.

Recommended Yarn

This doll can be crocheted with different yarn weights and fibers to create different looks!  I crocheted this design using a polyester yarn (Hobbii Honey Bunny yarn) that creates a chenille and velvet look. The end result is fluffy, plush, squishy, and super soft!

If you'd like to make a smaller, "mini" version of this pattern, the same instructions can be used with medium weight #4 yarn paired with a smaller crochet hook, such as 2.75mm. Here are my medium weight yarn recommendations:

Uses

  • Plush toy for children to play with
  • Selling at craft fairs, markets, or boutiques
  • Birthday gift or holiday gift
  • Christmas stocking stuffer
