So many of you have been asking for a basket pattern to go along with my free "Perfect Bao" crochet pattern! It seems that dumpling and basket sets are all the rage now, so here I am, a few weeks late, hopping onto this viral trend!
“The Perfect Fit” Dumpling & Basket Set features a chubby dumpling that fits perfectly inside of its steamer basket! The dumpling and basket parts are all completely no-sew. It’s a quick and easy project that works up fast using basic crochet stitches.

Recommended Yarn
This adorable amigurumi is designed with Posh Twist yarn, which is a super plush and soft bulky weight 5 yarn. This is the most durable and non-shedding chenille velvet yarn I've used, so I highly recommend it for projects that might be getting a lot of play and love!
I can see this dumpling getting lots of squishes (it makes a good fidget and stress ball, in my opinion), so a durable yarn is a must.
While this pattern is designed with plush yarn for that plush, squishy look, you can also try it with other types of yarns, such as cotton or acrylic. If using a thinner yarn, your amigurumi will end up with a smaller finished size. It can serve as a cute keychain, hanging ornament, or bag charm. To make a keychain, simply add clasps and rings with this inexpensive keychain making kit and you can clip the amigurumi onto diaper bags, backpacks, purses, and more.

Level of Difficulty:
★★☆☆☆ Familiar beginner. Requires familiarity with stitches used (below).Stitches/Terms Used:
- FO = fasten off
- ch = chain
- sc = single crochet
- inc = increase (insert 2 sc in same st)
- dec = decrease (sc 2 sts together)
- hdc = half double crochet
- hdc-inc = insert 2 hdc in the same st
- FLO = front loops only
- BLO = back loops only
Materials:
- Bulky weight 5 chenille velvet yarn in desired colors (I used Posh Twist yarn)
- 5mm crochet hook (I use these)
- 6mm crochet hook (I use these)
- 12mm plastic safety eyes (I use these)
- Fiberfill stuffing
- Scissors
- Optional: yarn needle for weaving in the ends
