Welcome to Sweet Softies' fifth annual Creator Challenge, featuring Tori the Turtle! This basic sea turtle serves as the perfect canvas for you to customize into your own, unique turtle. If you haven't already, check out the Intro Page for rules and important information about this Creator Challenge.
For Part 3, we will be crocheting the shell!

R1: Insert 6 sc in MR. Pull ring tight. (6 sts)
R2: Inc around. (12 sts)
R3: (Sc, inc) x 6. (18 sts)
R4: (Sc 2, inc) x 6. (24 sts)
R5: (Sc 3, inc) x 6. (30 sts)
R6: (Sc 4, inc) x 6. (36 sts)
R7-R9: Sc around. (36 sts)
Switch to C3 yarn. Stuff the shell and body as you work along these last few rounds.
R10: In BLO, sc around. (36 sts)
R11: (Sc 4, dec) x 6. (30 sts)
R12: (Sc 3, dec) x 6. (24 sts)
R13: (Sc 2, dec) x 6. (18 sts)
R14: (Sc, dec) x 6. (12 sts)
R15: Dec around. (6 sts)
FO with a tail for sewing the hole shut.
Finishing the Shell: Attach C2 yarn to the unworked front loops created in R10. Sc around, working in these unworked front loops. FO at the end of the round and weave in the ends.

The shell can be crocheted in one color or in multiple, and with "drop stitch" single crochets if you'd like to create a fun effect. You can also embroider designs onto the shell afterwards as well, such as sewing on flowers, lines, spots, etc. Be creative and have fun!
