Fall Pumpkins · Crochet Pattern Review

I recently finished crocheting this textured Fall Pumpkin designed by the talented Danni from Dannisdesignscrafts!   I am so excited to share with you the finished photos and my thoughts about this quick and beginner-friendly amigurumi pattern that takes about 1.5 hours to make from start to finish!

Oh, and get this...the stitches are so fun to work up too.  I love the look of this piece, even before it's stitched together into a pumpkin shape!

I've been eyeing Danni's gorgeous crochet work for quite a while now! I love how she incorporates puff stitches into her work, creating some really stunning texture in her designs!  I have a penchant for the vintage, farmhouse aesthetic, and this pumpkin totally gives off those vibes.

The pattern itself is super easy to read and follow along with.  Danni included helpful photo references to guide you through the process, including the special stitch that's used to create the puffy texture!  I love that she included detailed notes, and that the pattern comes with instructions for not one but THREE pumpkin sizes!

You can use either medium weight or bulky weight yarn for your pumpkin, depending on how large you'd like it to be.  On that note, it's also quite easy to adjust the pattern to make even larger or even smaller pumpkins to fit your need!  I personally used Lion Brand Heartland yarn in the color, "Yellowstone", for a nice, autumn-y look.  I really love how it turned out!

My Modifications

This pattern is super easy to customize as well.  I made a couple small changes to my pumpkin, which I'll share below.

No Ridges

The pattern includes instructions on how to create defined ridges in your pumpkin, which give them a really shapely look!  While I loved that, I wanted my pumpkin to be chubbier, so I simply skipped instructions for sewing the ridges.

Stem

I added a different stem to my pumpkin by crocheting a short i-cord (see tutorial here).  The original stem is super lovely too, and I encourage you to check out the listing!  When I make more pumpkins in the future, I'll definitely be crocheting some with the loopy stems!  If you check out Danni's Instagram, you'll find some other adorable ideas for customization, including leaf tags!

Once again, be sure to check out Dannisdesignscrafts's lovely Fall Pumpkin design in her Etsy shop to get your copy too!

Thanks for reading, and happy crocheting~
