Betty the Butterfly · Part 3: Wings · Creator Challenge 2023

Welcome to Sweet Softies' sixth annual Creator Challengefeaturing Betty the Butterfly!  She's a pretty little mariposa designed to be a fun and beginner-friendly crochet project that you can easily customize with different color combinations, creative details, and more!  If you haven't already, check out the Intro Page for rules and important information about this Creator Challenge.

For this section, we will be crocheting the Wings.  Below are instructions for the "Original" Wing Style that you see in my Betty the Butterfly photos.  If you'd like to opt for a simpler version of the wings, please follow the free Simple Wing Pattern (video tutorial).  You are able to enter your butterfly into the Creator Challenge contest with both wing styles!

Don't want to wait for all CAL instructions? Want a printable, ad-free, and easy-to-read PDF file with modifications for crocheting with super bulky blanket or velvet yarn? If so, you can purchase the PDF file for only $1 in my store (please note that it's more expensive on Etsy due to fees associated with Etsy). Thank you for supporting Sweet Softies!
