Welcome to Sweet Softies' sixth annual Creator Challenge, featuring Betty the Butterfly! She's a pretty little mariposa designed to be a fun and beginner-friendly crochet project that you can easily customize with different color combinations, creative details, and more! If you haven't already, check out the Intro Page for rules and important information about this Creator Challenge.
For this section, we will be crocheting the Antennae & Head.

Part 1: Antennae & Head

ANTENNAE (x2)
- Start with several inches of a yarn tail (which will be used for tying later).
- Ch 5, sl st in 2nd ch from hook. Sl st 3.
- FO with several inches of a yarn tail.
HEAD
R1: Insert 6 sc in MR. Pull ring tight. (6)R2: Inc around. (12)
R3: (Sc, inc) x 6. (18)
R4: (Sc 2, inc) x 6. (24)
R5-R6: Sc around. (24)
R7: (Sc 3, inc) x 6. (30)
R8: Sc around. (30)
R9: (Sc 3, dec) x 6. (24)
R10: (Sc 2, dec) x 6. (18)
Attach two antennae to the top of the head by pulling the yarn ends through and knotting them inside the head. Then, attach 7mm eyes between R7-R8, 7 sts apart.
R11: (Sc, dec) x 6. (12 sts)
FO. If desired, use pink embroidery thread to sew a mouth to the face. Stuff the head well.
