Sitting Dolls · Free Amigurumi Crochet Patterns

Dear fellow crocheters,

I have a new collection of amigurumis coming out, and they're called the Sitting Dolls!

So...they sit?

Yep!  This series features mini dolls that can sit upright without any support.  They make great desk buddies since they can easily be displayed without any props or tools.

How small are they?

Adorably small!  They are about 3 inches in height using medium weight yarn and a 2.75mm crochet hook.  If you want them even smaller, use a thinner yarn and a smaller hook.  You can turn them into keychains or charms!

Alternatively, you can also make them bigger by using a bulkier weight yarn and a larger hook.  For a soft look, try using chenille or velvet yarn!

Are they beginner-friendly?

The Sitting Dolls are incredibly beginner-friendly as they require only the basic amigurumi stitches.  They are perfect for beginners starting out for practicing the:
  • Magic ring
  • Single crochet
  • Increase
  • Decrease
While a lot of my patterns are no-sew or minimal-sew, I know the special joining methods used can sometimes put some beginners out of their comfort zones.  Thus, I wanted to create designs where all the pieces are crocheted separately and can be easily sewn together to make the finished doll.

They make perfect gifts!

These little dolls are super gift-able.  They are quick and easy enough to make as last-minute gifts, party favors (where you might need to make them in bulk), or as craft fair products.  For gifting, they work for any occasion and holiday, such as birthdays, Christmas, Mother's Day, Father's Day, anniversaries, appreciation gifts and thank you gifts, Easter basket gifts, etc.

What's also awesome is that they're suitable for all ages.  Kids will enjoy playing with these cute dolls, but teenagers and adults alike may also love them!  Remember, they make great keychains and desk buddies, so you can crochet some for your cubicle work buddies, classmates, doctor or health professional, or more!

All these patterns are FREE!

I hope you'll fall in love with each of these little dolls...and if so, you'll be happy to know that I'm sharing all of these crochet patterns on my blog for FREE!  This way, more people can make the kawaii Sitting Dolls!

Sitting Dolls

The Tiny Teddy is so easy and fast to make with no color-changing or join methods needed.

The Petite Panda is similar to the Tiny Teddy above, but with smaller ears and a smidge of color-changing for the body.  A full video tutorial is available for this project!

The Little Lucy doll has two pigtails, a flower in her hair, and a frilly dress. She is cute in every color and a great gift for little girls!  A full video tutorial for this pattern is also available.

More to come!

Future Sitting Dolls will be added to this roundup post.
