Woodland vibes, anyone? It's a yes please for me! I have SUCH an affinity for the mori girl style (Japanese "forest girl" style), and am all about rustic and fairytale aesthetics.
Hence, my Mori Girl Doll...version two! (Click here to see her video debut!)
I did make an original Mori Girl doll back in 2017. I have since decided to create a new one who still has that woodland vibe, but a different look.
This new Mori Girl pattern features a sweet amigurumi doll with three different outfits and a total of seven accessories to dress her up in. That includes a kitty cat-eared hood (or bonnet hat, if you'd like to call it that!), a teddy bear-eared hood, scarves, dresses, and a sleeping bag.
One of the things I love about this design is that it's relatively quick to work up. It can easily be customized as well, by using different yarn color combinations or by adding embellishments and appliques. Children will love to play dress up with the clothes and extra items in this bundle. (Hint, hint... these would make a sweet toy set for birthday or holiday gifts!)
The yarn I chose for the cat and bear outfits are Caron Simply Soft Tweeds. I just LOVE the speckles of color; this tweed yarn has a wonderfully natural and earthy look. Since I was so obsessed with both the dark brown and off-white tweed colors, I decided to use both for Mori Girl's two outfits. As you can see, they complement one another as the main and secondary colors are reversed!

Height of doll without clothing or accessories: 6.5 inches (16.5 cm)Level of Difficulty:

Stitches/Terms Used:
- FO = fasten off
- MR = magic ring
- ch = chain
- sl st = slip stitch
- sc = single crochet
- inc = increase
- dec = decrease
Materials:
- Medium weight yarn in desired colors for doll (I used Caron Simply Soft Solids for the doll, and Caron Simply Soft Tweeds for the clothing)
- Super Bulky Faux Fur Yarn for sleep sack (I used Lion Brand Go for Faux)
- 8mm plastic safety eyes
- 2.75mm crochet hook
- 6mm crochet hook for sleep sack only
- Stuffing
- Yarn needle
- Scissors
Important Note (Read Before Beginning):

HEAD
Use skin-colored yarn (peach).R1: In MR, sc 6. (6 sts)
R2: Inc around. (12 sts)
R3: (Sc, inc) x 6. (18 sts)
R4: (Sc 2, inc) x 6. (24 sts)
R5: (Sc 3, inc) x 6. (30 sts)
R6: (Sc 4, inc) x 6. (36 sts)
R7-R14: Sc around. (36 sts)
R15: (Sc 4, dec) x 6. (30 sts)
R16: (Sc 3, dec) x 6. (24 sts)
Insert 8mm eyes 6 sts apart between R11-R12.
R17: (Sc 2, dec) x 6. (18 sts)
R18: Dec around. (9 sts)
FO. No need to leave a long tail.
HAIR CAP
Use hair-colored yarn (brown).R1-R13: Repeat instructions for the ‘Head.’
FO with a long tail for sewing later.
ARMS (x2)
Use skin-colored yarn (peach).R1: In MR, sc 6. (6 sts)
R2-R12: Sc around. (6 sts)
FO with a long tail for sewing later.
LEGS (x2)
Start with white yarn.R1: In MR, sc 6. (6 sts)
R2: Inc, sc 5. (7 sts)
R3: Sc around. (7 sts)
R4: Inc, sc 6. (8 sts)
R5: Sc around. (8 sts)
R6: Inc, sc 7. (9 sts)
R7: Sc around. (9 sts)
Switch to peach yarn.
R8-R15: Sc around. (9 sts)
FO for Leg#1, but do not FO for Leg#2. Continue with ‘Body’ instructions.
BODY
Note: Video tutorial for R1 (Joining Round) is available.Start with yarn still attached to Leg#2. Switch to white yarn.
R1: Ch 3, join to a st in R15 of Leg#1 using a sc. Sc around the remaining sts of Leg#1 (9 sts total). Sc in each of the ch-3 loops across to Leg#2. Sc in each of the 9 sts of Leg#2’s R15. Sc in each of the ch-3 loops back across to Leg#1. (24 sts)
R2-R5: Sc around. (24 sts)
R6: (Sc 6, dec) x 3. (21 sts)
R7: Sc around. (21 sts)
R8: (Sc 5, dec) x 3. (18 sts)
R9: Sc around. (18 sts)
R10: (Sc 4, dec) x 3. (15 sts)
R11: Sc around. (15 sts)

FO with a long tail for sewing later.
- Sew the two arms to the sides of the doll’s body.
- Position the hair cap at a slant over the doll’s head. Sew it securely, and use the hair-colored yarn to sew some bangs if desired.
- Make sure the body and head are both well-stuffed before sewing them together.
