4 Hobbies for Husbands: Tips to Keep the Man in Your Life Happy

We all need hobbies. Yes, even your husband.

These days, we’re seeing loads of articles and social media posts touting the importance of engaging in your own hobbies and taking time to do the things you enjoy. However, these posts all seem to be targeted towards women and include hobbies like baking, reading, crocheting and building puzzles.

While these are great activities for anyone to enjoy, your husband might not be interested in these kinds of hobbies. If you feel like your man could benefit from something to commit himself to outside of work and family life, here are some ideas to throw his way.

Practical Shooting

Sometimes, men just need to do something traditionally manly, and shooting is a great example of an activity that could help them manage stress and have a little fun on the weekends.

Practical shooting blends agility, precision, and strategic thinking, making it a great hobby for mental stimulation as well as growth and skill development. The shooting community is also a great place to build friendships, and there’s always so much to learn from professionals like JJ Racaza, who is a World Champion practical shooter and an incredible role model too.

Outdoorsy Adventures

Getting outside and soaking in some much-needed vitamin D is essential for everyone, and outdoor activities can be a great way for guys to do this.

These are endless things to do in the great outdoors, like hiking, cycling, camping, hunting, fishing, or even just playing golf on a Sunday morning (yes, it totally counts!). Encourage your husband to look into some outdoor activities they can do with their friends over the weekends. It’ll help keep him fitter and healthier, and we guarantee he’ll be in a much better mood when he gets home.

Home Brewing

If your hubby is the beer-loving type, why not spoil him with the gear he needs to start his own home brewing adventure?

Making your own beer is a pretty rewarding hobby for any man, and it’ll give him something fun to focus on aside from the stress of his day-to-day life. They’ll be able to learn something new, experiment, and even try to personalize their beer according to their tastes! It’s scientific and artistic at the same time, while overall just being loads of fun and an exciting challenge.

Woodworking and DIYing

If your man likes to work with his hands, encourage him to do some more DIYing. This way, you can benefit from his hobby too!

If he’s interested, take a look at some home DIY projects you’re interested in, and ask him if he would be willing to make or fix a few things for you. It’ll be a way for him to be creative and work with his hands, plus it’s a much more affordable way to upgrade and maintain your home! If he really enjoys the work, he could even turn his hobby into a side hustle.
