Daiyu the Dragon · Submissions & Results! · Creator Challenge #7

Dear fellow crocheters,

I'm pleased to announce that the RESULTS for Sweet Softies' seventh annual Creator Challenge are here!

Here are the three I made!

This year, the featured pattern is Daiyu the Dragon. Daiyu was excited to meet his new siblings, and guess what? You all delivered! Keep scrolling down to see his HUGE family album.

Alicia van Staalduinen's dragons look fantastic! I especially love how the rainbow one turned out!

Want to make Daiyu as well?  You can get Daiyu the Dragon's free pattern links here by scrolling down to the "Pattern Links" section!

Melanie Hewitt's little lavender dragon looks ever so sweet clutching a daisy! Doesn't this picture just make you croon "awww"?

This stunning baby dragon's name is Midnight, crocheted by Ashlee Webb! She's holding a sparkly egg and wearing a tiara, so you know she's royalty!

Daiyu didn't need to wait long for more siblings to emerge from around the world. Many more little dragons (114 to be exact!) soon joined my crew throughout the month of February and March, while the Creator Challenge took place.  A number of WIP and finished dragon photos began sprouting up in the Sweet Softies FB group and on Instagram!

Martha Foley crocheted this little family of dragons, each with an egg! I love how playful they look in their different poses!

Karen Worton's pink dragon is SO sweet! The variegated yarn for its belly and wings is such a beautiful touch!

You are all SO creative and really talented at customizing your dragons and adding your own flair to them. The color combinations, yarn fibers used, and other additions and embellishments really made each dragon so unique and special.

Meet Orbit by Jodie Simms! This magical dragon has two wings with wire sewn in them to be posable. I'm loving the sparkly yarn, too!

It brings me such joy to see all your lovely creations, read up on your dragons' names and sometimes backstories (I love those!), as well as notes on who you are gifting them to.  I know all the gifted dragons will be very much loved and cherished.

Ashley Moffat crocheted a violet dragon for herself and a red one for her partner! They're the cutest guardians for that crystal and gemstone stash!

I sincerely hope all participants had a fun time making their mini dragons!

This sweet, little dragon crocheted by @crocheter_yuri on Instagram looks so precious resting in a cherry blossom bowl!

Without further ado, here is Daiyu the Dragon's family album!

Take a look at all these unique dragons!

Included are all of the submissions made before the March 9th deadline with the hashtag #sweetsoftiescreatorchallenge.

Fun Fact: There are 114 new dragons joining Daiyu!

Winner

The winner of Sweet Softies' Seventh Creator Challenge goes to...

Jessica Woods' daughter, Katie!

Jessica Woods shared these adorable dragons made by her 10-year-old daughter, Katie! Aren't they fantastic?! I am in awe of Katie's skill and creativity at only 10 years old. Their names are Leif the earth dragon, Blaise the fire dragon, Elena the water dragon, and Erica the ice dragon. They all have unique qualities to them and look so very sweet!

Please join me in congratulating Katie on her lovely submissions!!  As winner of the Creator Challenge, Katie will be receiving a $10 coupon code to Sweet Softies' Ravelry store!

All of the dragons that were made during the Creator Challenge were absolutely beautiful and special in their own ways!  Thank you all so much for participating in this event of mine.  I look forward to hosting another Creator Challenge next year!

What a darling dragon made by Dee Artemisatto! I love how she is surrounded by beautiful flowers and nature.
