Baby Mermaid · Free Amigurumi Crochet Pattern

What's cuter than a mermaid?

A BABY mermaid!!

Yes, baby versions of things are fabulous.  I'm all for chibi versions, because the cuteness overload always gets me.

If you'd like to crochet the mythical baby mermaid that I just mentioned, keep reading!  I'm excited to share with you this adorable Baby Mermaid design, which features a juvenile little fish-lady with a chubby tail and tiny flippers.

Isn't she adorbs?

She's even friends with Baby Jellyfish (free pattern), which is another one of my designs!  Be sure to check out the link above if you want to make this underwater pair.

I also wanted to share some quick, behind-the-scenes shots!  Here, our little fishy lady is getting her bangs sewn in.  I crochet her wig cap and buns first, sew them together, and then sew the cap to her head.  From there, I embroider the bangs strand-by-strand.

I like giving my dolls a swide-swept look, partly because it's hard for me to find the "center"!  So to make it errorless, side-swept is a stylish way to go!

Here she is, getting some finishing touches with some added blush!  I just love giving my amigurumi dolls rosy cheeks because it seems to bring them to life.  If you'd like to do the same, I have a blog post about Adding Blush to Amigurumi, which includes written tips and a video tutorial!
