Flynn & Rumi · The Tale of a Fox and Red Panda

I recently got my hands on several lush skeins of Bernat Blanket Yarn, and decided to make amigurumis with them!  I am in LOVE with the results.  This super bulky yarn paired with a 6mm hook had me whipping up two large stuffies in no time.

Meet Flynn the Fox, and Rumi the Red Panda!  If you'd like, check out the short video preview below to see both of these dolls.

Similarities

These two besties feature a ragdoll shaped body, rounded hands (for children to easily hold onto), pointed toe shapes, and pointed noses with beautiful forehead curves!

They can both be crocheted using different yarn fibers.  For instance, you can use velvet instead of blanket yarn for an even softer look!  I would, however, recommend that you still use super bulky yarn if possible.

Additionally, both patterns are very beginner-friendly.  They really only use the basic amigurumi stitches of single crochet, increase, decrease, and the magic ring.

Differences

There are quite a few differences just due to the fact that these two are different species, but I'm going to share about the not-so-obvious tidbits about their designs and pattern.

Let's start with Rumi the Red Panda.  Rumi (15 inches tall) is a bit larger than Flynn, with a larger head shape and body.  His arms, legs, and tail are thicker and longer than Flynn's as well.  Regarding construction, his pieces are all crocheted separately and sewn together at the end.

Flynn the Fox, on the other hand, is 13 inches tall and crocheted mostly in one piece!  His arms, legs, and tail are attached to the body using a no-sew crochet method.  Pretty nifty, I'll have to say, especially for those who don't like sewing!  Flynn's ears also feature some clever color changes, as it's completely done in one piece and uses three different colors (grey, white, and pink) with no additional embroidery.

Perfect for Littles

I've just gotta say -- both Flynn and Rumi would be a big hit with little ones.  My daughter just adores them!  She loves lugging them around wherever she goes.  Wise choice, I'd say, because Flynn and Rumi make dashing company!

But yeah, my baby is totally third-wheeling on these besties' hangout time!
