How to Transition Your Skincare Routine to Spring

Spring is the time when everything comes to life. We all feel more energized, motivated and uplifted to start afresh, often after a long and boring winter. Your skincare is a huge aspect of your beauty routine, so it’s important to transition carefully into the new season. That often includes implementing some important changes. So for that reason, here is a mini-guide that will help you transition your skincare routine to spring.

Start exfoliating

Exfoliating your skin is the perfect way to start a new routine. If you have issues with dry and flaky skin or cracked heels, then be sure to find the best exfoliator. Mechanical peels are the easiest to use, however, they’re not the best solution, as they can cause skin issues such as tearing and premature ageing. This is why it’s best to slowly introduce chemical peels: products that contain AHA/BHA acids are the best suggestion, however, be sure to follow the instructions carefully. Also, wearing sunscreen is a must, since chemical peels can increase the skin sensitivity to sunlight.

Use lighter products

Switching to lighter products is a must, mainly if you have oily or combination skin types. Winter skincare products tend to contain heavier ingredients such as oils that can clog pores and cause breakouts if worn during warm weather. Therefore, a lighter moisturizer can be a great decision: it will keep your skin soft and hydrated, without clogging your pores. Be sure to check the ingredients, and avoid comedogenic products. A new moisturizer should contain emollients and humectants that won’t make your skin feel greasy or sticky.

Be smart when travelling

Travelling is the only thing we spend money on, that makes us richer in return. So if you’re planning some Southeast Asian trips this spring, then be sure to treat yourself to the best facial treatment in Singapore as chances are you’ll be happy with the results. Many countries and cultures have distinct beauty practices that can do wonders for your skin. The same goes for buying local skincare or beauty products. Sometimes, trying something interesting and new can be super beneficial.

Upgrade your SPF

Sunscreen is one of those products that should be worn at all times, during the day. Springtime means more sunlight, which is amazing. However, this also means you should invest in a quality, broad-spectrum sunscreen that will protect your skin from harmful UV rays. Constant sun exposure can cause skin cancer, premature ageing and other skin issues, which is why you should wear sunscreen regularly, especially during spring and summer. Also, keep in mind that you should wear SPF even if you wear makeup. In that case, feel free to get a spray-on SPF that you’ll use after you’re done applying all your makeup.

Declutter your beauty shelf

Winter is when we tend to use heavier creams rich with occlusive ingredients that protect our skin from the harsh cold. So the spring transition is a perfect opportunity to declutter all your beauty products and replace them with more effective ones, suitable for a new season. If you tend to collect products without using them often, then it’s time to clear your beauty shelf. If you don’t have any obvious skincare issues, then feel free to consider a minimalist skincare routine. Springtime is the perfect time to try that out.

These helpful tips will make you successfully transition your skincare routine for warmer, spring days. In case you plan a trip, then feel free to try local treatments and products. Aside from that, keep in mind that wearing SPF is a must, as well as using lighter products. If you follow these tips, your skin will look glowy and healthy.
