Kimono Kitty · Part 2 of 4 · Creator Challenge 2021


Dear fellow crocheters,

Welcome to Sweet Softies' fourth annual Creator Challengefeaturing the Kimono Kitty!  She's a sweet, little cat who wears a traditional Japanese dress.  This kokeshi amigurumi doll's outfit includes a kimono with the large sleeves, an obi sash, and a bow on the back.  She also wears a sakura (cherry blossom) flower on her head.

PART 2:

Body & Sleeves


BODY

Use pink yarn. 

R1: In MR, sc 6. (6 sts) 
R2: Inc around. (12 sts) 
R3: (Sc, inc) x 6. (18 sts) 
R4: (Sc 2, inc) x 6. (24 sts) 
R5: Sc around in BLO. (24 sts) 
R6-R11: Sc around. (24 sts) 

Switch to white yarn. 

R12: (Sc 6, dec) x 3. (21 sts) 
R13: Sc around. (21 sts) 

Switch to pink yarn. 

R14: (Sc 5, dec) x 3. (18 sts) 
R15: (Sc 4, dec) x 3. (15 sts) 
R16: (Sc 3, dec) x 3. (12 sts) 
R17: Sc around. (12 sts) 

FO with a long tail for sewing later. 

Waist ribbon: With dark pink yarn, insert hook between R12-R13 and surface sl st around. (Click here for a video tutorial on the Waist Ribbon.) 

Waist Ribbon Video Tutorial:


Stuff the body firmly. If desired, fill the bottom half of the body with pellets (to add weight) and stuff the top half with fiberfill.


SLEEVES (x2)

Start with pink yarn. 

R1: In MR, sc 6. (6 sts)
R2: Inc around. (12 sts) 
R3: (Sc, inc) x 6. (18 sts) 
R4: (Sc 2, inc) x 6. (24 sts) 

Fold the circle in half. Switch to white yarn. Sl st in next st to join the round. 

Sleeve Edging: Ch 1, sc around the semicircle (folded circle), inserting your hook into both layers.
