Hello my fellow crocheters,
I'm excited to share with you my newest amigurumi design, the French Macaron! This sweet treat is so quick and easy to crochet, using basic crochet materials.
The French Macaron is a sweet, little amigurumi dessert that serves as a lovely gift! You can easily customize this yummy looking macaroon using different yarn colors for the cookie and frosting filling. You can also add sprinkles, beads, or other embellishments.
It's so quick and easy to make. You'll need to crochet just the Top half and Bottom half, and sew it together with some stuffing on the inside!
Make an assortment of rainbow macarons for different flavors to make the perfect gift. There are many holidays and occasions to use it as a present, such as Valentine’s Day, Easter, Christmas, birthdays, weddings, anniversaries, bridesmaids gifts, and appreciation or thank you gifts!

Size:
- Height: 1.5 inches (3.8 cm)
- Width: 2.5 inches (6.4 cm)
Level:
- ★★☆☆☆ Easy / Familiar Beginner
- Requires familiarity with stitches used (below) and sewing parts together.
- MR: magic ring
- Sl st: slip stitch
- Ch: chain
- Sc: single crochet
- Inc: increase
- BLO: back loops only
- FLO: front loops only
Materials:
- Medium weight (4) yarn in two colors for the cookie and filling
- 2.75 mm crochet hook
- Fiberfill stuffing
- Yarn needle
- Scissors
- Blush powder
- Q-tip
~ CROCHET INSTRUCTIONS ~
Macaron Bottom
Start with the main macaron color yarn.
R1: In MR, sc 6. (6 sts)
R2: Inc around. (12 sts)
R3: (Sc, inc) x 6. (18 sts)
R4: (Sc 2, inc) x 6. (24 sts)
R5: (Sc 3, inc) x 6. (30 sts)
R6: (Sc 4, inc) x 6. (36 sts)
R7: Sc around. (36 sts)
R8: Sl st around in FLO. (36 sts)
Switch to a different yarn color for the filling.
R9: Sc around in the unworked BLO created in R8. Join the round with a sl st to the first sc. (36 sts)
FO with a long tail for sewing later.
Macaron Top
Use the main macaron color yarn.
Repeat R1-R8 of the Macaron Bottom. (Do not crochet R9!)
FO and weave in the ends.
~ FINISHING INSTRUCTIONS ~
- Using a yarn needle and the long yarn tail from the Macaron Bottom, sew it to the Top piece. (I did so by going into the unworked back loops of the Top and the third loop of the Bottom.)
- Do not forget to stuff your macaron before sewing it up completely.
- At the end, fasten off and weave in any remaining loose ends.
