Sir Batwington the Bat (Free Amigurumi Crochet Pattern)

by - September 08, 2019

I just love how this wee bat fits into my hands!

Meet Sir Batwington the Bat!

Sir Batwington is an adorable, little bat who thinks he is big and scary.  Since his kind is known to be the spooky terror of Halloween, this creature of the night is pretty eager to live up to the hype.  However, he uses his fearsome looks for good, as he wishes to bravely chase evil spirits away from his fellow human!

A special thank you to Heike F. who suggested the wonderful name, Batwington!  I simply added a "Sir" in front because I think this little fellow is rather gallant and noble, don't you? 😂

I had a lot of fun designing this pattern!  I usually start out with a quick sketch to visualize the shapes and sizes that I would need.

It's so exciting to see all the pieces come together, too!  It took me a while and several attempts to get the wings "right".  I get picky about how I want it to look, and finally felt happy about this set of wings!

    2. In the instructions for the wings it says to "continue stuffing as you work up" just after saying switch to contrast color. Did I miss something about stuffing the wings or is this a misprint? I plan the buy the pattern but have a child who has been sick so I need to wait a few paydays.

      1. Oh dear, I apologize! It's an error on my part -- the wings are not stuffed at all. Only the head and body are stuffed. Very sorry for the confusion -- I will fix it now!

By the way, I hope your child feels better soon! Poor little one.

    3. Hello! Can you please tell me approximately how many yards of the light grey this would take? I have to switch out to an aran weight yarn as that is all I can find where I live and I'm trying to figure out how many balls I will need to purchase.

    5. What does x6 mean? As in r3:(sc,inc)x6. 18 sts.
I get that I was supposed to increasee to 18 but does x6 mean that I do the row with 18 sts 6 times. I apologize in advance if this is a stupid question.
