Dear fellow crocheters,

Welcome to Sweet Softies' second Creator Challenge, featuring Coral the Mermaid!  She's the perfect amigurumi doll to make this summer!  If you haven't already, check out the INTRO PAGE for rules and important information about this Creator Challenge.

PART 2

Head & Upper Body

Pattern Notes:

  • The head and body are all crocheted in one piece.  Do not fasten off until instructed to do so.

Let's Begin!

Start with the Head

Begin with skin color yarn.

R1: 6 sc in magic ring. (6 sts)
R2: Inc around. (12 sts)
R3: (Sc, inc) x 6. (18 sts)
R4: (Sc 2, inc) x 6. (24 sts)
R5: (Sc 3, inc) x 6. (30 sts)
R6-R12: Sc around. (30 sts)
R13: (Sc 3, dec) x 6. (24 sts)

Attach plastic safety eyes. (I placed 7mm eyes between R10 and R11, 6 sts apart.) Begin stuffing the head, and continue stuffing bit by bit as you work.

R14: (Sc 2, dec) x 6. (18 sts)
R15: (Sc, dec) x 6. (12 sts)
R16: Dec around. (6 sts)
R17 [This is the neck]: Sc around. (6 sts)

Continue with the Upper Body

R18: Inc around. (12 sts)
R19: (Sc 3, inc) x 3. (15 sts)

Switch to the top color.

R20: (Sc 4, inc) x 3. (18 sts)
R21: (Sc 5, inc) x 3. (21 sts)

Switch to the skin color.

R22-R23: Sc around. (21 sts)
