Pattern ideas

This easy, versatile, and multipurpose pattern allows you to crochet ANY size square or rectangle. Thus, you can use it to create so many patterns. Here are a few ideas:
  • Baby blanket
  • Adult blanket
  • Cup coaster or mug rug
  • Facial washcloth
  • Dishcloth
  • Cushion cover
  • Potholder
  • Granny square
  • Bag, pouch, tote, purse (just stitch them together and add straps!)
  • ...and more!

The Moss Stitch

This pattern features the beautiful yet simple moss stitch (aka “granite stitch”) worked in turned rows.  It's relaxing to crochet on repeat and produces a nicely textured result.  It's also a great stitch for showing off different yarn color changes every few rounds.

Yarn

Any type of yarn fiber and weight can be used, along with a suitable sized crochet hook.  It'll depend greatly on what you choose as your project.  For example:
    • Cup coaster - I used a medium weight 4 yarn (Hobbii Friends Cotton 8/8) and a 5mm crochet hook.
    • Baby blanket - I used a jumbo weight 7 yarn (Hobbii Blanket Yarn) and a 20mm crochet hook.

If you're making a smaller project, such as a coaster or dishcloth, I recommend thinner yarns (e.g., DK or worsted yarns).

However, if you're making something larger and don't want to spend forever on the tiny, intricate stitches, use a super bulky or jumbo weight yarn.
