Pocket Mouse · Free Amigurumi Crochet Pattern
Calling all mouse-lovers! So...I released a free no-sew kitty cat pattern a short while ago, and now I have to make a mouse too! This adorable little mouse is quick and easy to work up, without any sewing needed at all! Let's say hello to the Pocket Mouse! It's so versatile. This same pattern can be used with different yarn weights (and hooks) to create different sizes!

Fun fact... this mouse was inspired by Leo Lionni's books! I loved reading his stories growing up, and now that I'm revisiting this part of my childhood by reading the same books to my daughter, I'm finding a lot of crochet inspiration from looking at his beautiful illustrations.

Yarn
The weight of yarn that you use will result in a certain size for your mouse. If you'd like to make a bigger mouse, definitely go with super bulky weight yarn! Conversely, for an itty bitty mouse, use thin yarns. Make sure you use a hook size suitable for the yarn you're using, meaning you are able to crochet without gaps between the stitches.
Here's my line-up of mice from big to small!
- Big mouse (left): super bulky weight 6 Honey Bunny Yarn + 5mm hook
- Medium mouse (center): medium weight 4 Friends Cotton 8/8 yarn + 2.75mm hook
- Small mouse (right): fingering weight 1 Friends Cotton 8/4 yarn + 2.25mm hook
As you can see, the tiny mouse using fingering weight yarn is quite itty-bitty!

★★☆☆☆ Familiar beginner/intermediate. Requires familiarity with stitches used (below), attaching yarn, and working on a small scale.Stitches/Terms Used:
- FO = fasten off
- YO = yarn over
- ch = chain
- st = stitch
- sl st = slip stitch
- sc = single crochet
- inc = increase (insert 2 sc in same st)
- dec = decrease (sc 2 sts together)
- dc = double crochet
Materials:
- Hobbii Friends Cotton 8/8 (medium weight “4”) yarn in desired colors
- 3.25mm crochet hook
- 6mm plastic safety eyes (x2)
- Stuffing
- Scissors
