Crochet Hair Wig · Lena's Second Halloween!

by - October 31, 2021

Happy Halloween, friends!

It's Lena Rose's second Halloween, and I decided to try my hand at making her a wig this year to match the pretty Chinese dress that she's wearing!

Being the crochet addict that I am, I incorporated crochet into this project, of course.  The hair cap is crocheted using double crochet stitches.  Once that section was complete, I went ahead and cut long strands of black yarn to attach to some of the stitches in the last round, before braiding them together.  I also added bangs to the top, and decided to keep them long but pull them to the side for a side-swept look.  Lastly, I crocheted several red flowers to add to the side of her cap, using the Layered Rose pattern (free).

It was a lot of fun to make, and quite amusing to see what Lena would look like with long hair!  Being a wiggly 15-month-old, she didn't stay still long enough for me to snap shots of her looking towards me.  So unfortunately, here's what I have!

She also wasn't as big of a fan of the hair cap as her parents were, haha!  We oo'ed and ahh'ed over her ensemble, but she was skilled at pulling it off her head with lightning speed.  I wonder if she has a vendetta against headwear in general, because hats, bonnets, headbands, etc., have all been no-go's for Lena as of late!

Nevertheless, I thought it fun to capture her sassy self the way she is!

If you'd like to see what Lena dressed as for Halloween last year, here's the outfit and blog post.

She was our sweet Rose!

Hope you all have a safe and happy Halloween!

Best wishes,
