Christmas Kitty · Free Amigurumi Crochet Pattern

Is it too early to start holiday posts?

I think not!!

Some festive cheer is always much-appreciated from my standpoint, so I'm delighted to share with you an adorable yet quick Christmas project!  Here's my sweet Christmas Kitty ornament!

She has a round, ornament-like body, similar to that of my Ornament Bear.  This sweet, little cat is small enough to fit into a hand too, as you can see.  With her size, she's relatively fast to crochet up, making her a lovely instant-gratification project to make between larger patterns.

I think she'd be a fitting stocking stuffer or Christmas present in general, and you can easily customize her with different yarn colors to make her into the perfect, individualized gift!

The yarn I used is called Fluffy Day from Hobbii, and it creates some really unique and interesting texture in amigurumis! If you crochet with the "wrong side" out, you'll have a more fuzzy look.  If you crochet with the "right side" out (like normal), you'll be able to have better stitch definition.

Given the unique properties of this yarn, I decided to crochet the kitten's head, ears, arms, and feet with the "wrong side" facing out...creating that fuzzy look!

Meanwhile, the ornament body and scarf are crocheted with the right side out, so you can see the stitches better.  I really like seeing the contrast in texture!
