After crocheting the Bedtime Babies, I decided to make the Bedtime Bunnies!
The Bedtime Bunnies pattern is a cute and play-based amigurumi project. Your little one will love putting the bunny dolls to sleep by tucking them into bed.
The pattern is easy, quick to crochet, and suitable for familiar beginners. The doll’s body and head are crocheted in one piece, with only the ears and bow to be sewn on. The bed is a no-sew design. Since the project only requires a small amount of yarn, it is a stashbuster and a great way to use up scrap yarn.
This bunny can also serve as a “worry doll” (a.k.a. Worry buddy, worry pet) to help children with anxiety, autism, or sensory needs calm down and self-regulate when holding onto it. Being pocket-sized, these dolls can easily travel with your little one too!

Both boys and girls will enjoy this gender neutral unisex toy. They’re great to make as birthday presents for children, holiday or Christmas gifts, kids party favors, and more.

Requires familiarity with stitches used (below), attaching yarn, changing yarn colors, attaching safety eyes, and sewing parts together.
Stitches/Terms Used:
- FO = fasten off
- MR = magic ring
- YO = yarn over
- ch = chain
- sl st = slip stitch
- sc = single crochet
- hdc = half double crochet
- dc = double crochet
- inc = increase
- dec = decrease
- BLO = back loops only
Materials:
- Medium weight yarn in desired colors
- 6mm plastic safety eyes
- 2.75mm crochet hook for doll
- 4mm crochet hook for bed
- Stuffing
- Yarn needle
- Scissors
Part 1: Bunny Doll
Notes (Read Before Beginning):
- Use the 2.75mm hook for all parts of the doll
- The doll is worked from bottom-up. The body and head are made in one piece.
- Check out the color change video tutorial, which will be helpful for the Body's R6, R8, and R10.
BODY & HEAD
Start with pink yarn and the 2.75mm hook.
R1: Insert 6 sc in MR. (6 sts)
R2: Inc around. (12 sts)
R3: (Sc, inc) x 6. (18 sts)
R4-R5: Sc around. (18 sts)
R6: Sc around, but alternate white yarn on every third st. (18 sts)
R7: Sc around. (18 sts)
R8: Sc around, but alternate white yarn on every third st. (18 sts)
R9: (Sc 4, dec) x 3. (15 sts)
R10: Sc around, but alternate white yarn on every third st. (15 sts)
R11: (Sc 3, dec) x 3. (12 sts)
R12: Sc around. (12 sts)
Switch to white yarn.
R13: In BLO, (sc, inc) x 6. (18 sts)
R14: (Sc 2, inc) x 6. (24 sts)
R15-R18: Sc around. (24 sts)
Attach 6mm plastic safety eyes between R16-R17, 5 sts apart. Stuff the body, and continue stuffing as you crochet.
R19: (Sc 2, dec) x 6. (18 sts)
R20: (Sc, dec) x 6. (12 sts)
R21: Dec around. (6 sts)
FO with a tail and sew the top of the head closed.
EARS (x2)
Use the 2.75mm hook and white yarn.
R1: In a MR, ch 3 and insert 5 dc. Join with a sl st to the top of the ch 3.
R2: Ch 3, dc around. Join with a sl st to the top of the ch 3.
FO with a long tail for sewing to the head later.
BOW
Use the 2.75mm hook and pink yarn.
R1: In a MR, ch 2, dc, ch 2, sl st, ch 2, dc, ch 2, sl st.
FO with a long tail. Pull the ring tight and wrap the tail around the center a few times.
- Sew the two ears to the top of the doll’s head.
- Sew the bow in front of one ear.
- Tuck the bunny into bed, and you are done!
There are so many ways to customize your Bedtime Bunnies! Here's a list of some starting-off points to get your creative juices flowing...
- Use different yarn colors and play around with changing/alternating colors, whether by rows or stitches
- Add appliques and embellishments to your bunny's head (e.g., bows, flowers) or body (e.g., buttons, beads)
- Instead of using plastic safety eyes, embroider them or sew closed, sleepy eyes
- Embroider designs, such as flowers, directly onto your bunny's body
