Kitty Cat Cupcake (Free Amigurumi Crochet Pattern)

Hello my crafty friends,

Here's my latest design, the Kitty Cat Cupcake!

The Kitty Cat Cupcake is a sweet, little amigurumi dessert that you can admire and pet, but not eat!  This zero-calorie treat isn’t meant to be consumed, but rather, serve as a lovely gift or provide you cute and cheerful company during your day! It features cat ears, pink frosting, and a dainty little flower and leaf.

I adore this design because it's...

  • Quick to work up
  • Beginner-friendly
  • A great gift for lots of occasions
  • Easily customizable (make it unique and special)
  • Super duper cute

The Bunny Rabbit Cupcake is a free pattern too.

For customization, you can easily do so by using different yarn colors as “flavors” or “frostings”, adding sprinkles, attaching beads, or other embellishments.  Be as creative as you'd like!

It's also such a lovely handmade gift.  Imagine getting a box full of these pretty cupcakes -- wouldn't just make your heart feel so happy? There are so many holidays and occasions to use it as a present, such as Valentine’s Day, birthdays, anniversaries, appreciation or thank you gifts, Christmas, and more.

This lovely dessert has some friends, too!

I started off with the Bunny Rabbit Cupcake, and had so much fun that I decided to make the Unicorn Floral Cupcake.  Not long after, comes this Kitty Cat Cupcake.  I also have Unicorn Macarons as well, which also comes with a step-by-step video tutorial.

~ FINISHING INSTRUCTIONS ~

  1. Arrange the ears, frosting, flower, and leaf on the cupcake to get a sense of where you want to position the pieces.
  2. Sew the white ear to the cupcake first.
  3. Next, sew the pink ear to the cupcake frosting.
  4. Sew the flower and leaf to the frosting.
  5. Sew the frosting to the cupcake top.
  6. Insert 10mm plastic safety eyes (I put mine between R10-R11, 9 sts apart).  If desired, sew eyelashes using black embroidery thread to the sides of the eyes.
  7. Cut out a circle of cardboard that would fit in the base of the bottom half. This will provide rigidity and allow your cupcake to stand better.
  8. Sew bottom and top halves together, using the yarn tail from the bottom half to go into the unworked back loops of R14 in the top half. Stuff the cupcake firmly before stitching it up completely.
  9. If desired, add blush to the cheeks and the white ear if desired.  You can take a look at my video tutorial for adding blush with powder and a q-tip.
