5 Scenic Locations in Australia for the Perfect Wedding Proposal

Wedding proposals, anywhere in the world, are a big deal. Celebrated with utmost enthusiasm, lovebirds plan vacations around scenic locations that would be ideal for proposing to their potential better halves. Australia has no dearth of striking locations– from vast serene vistas to breathtaking mountaintops to geological marvels of the Earth and dizzying cities, this country is a proposal paradise.

Your significant other goes through painstaking effort to ensure that the proposal is as dreamy as can be, hours and hours picking out the perfect ring, going through innumerable ring boxes to match, and, of course, picking out a spot that speaks volumes about both the parties involved. While you may have already picked out a ring and a box, here are some suggestions on places that would be ideal for a marriage proposal.

1. Uluru Rock

A breathtaking geological site, it is one where many a lover has confessed their desire to be with another for the rest of their lives. A famed location in the central Australia region, it is one that inspires confidence and a spot where your worries seem to fade away. It’s a wonderful spot to be with your ‘soulmate’ during breezy summer evenings. Plan a weekend getaway and wait for the sun to set behind Uluru, revealing panoramic views of the dusky sky. With this massive plateau formation as the backdrop, whip out the ring and confess your love when the time is right.

2. Great Barrier Reef

One of the most picturesque places on planet Earth, the Great Barrier Reef opens up an interesting proposal possibility– an underwater proposal. A not-so-common trend, with the right gear (and the right person), this could be a dream come true for many. The vibrant corals dance as the sunlight barely touches them underneath the cool blue waters of the aptly named Coral Sea. Plan for a scuba diving experience, keep the diving trainers in the loop and surprise your partner with a proposal that lasts a lifetime. A proposal here, and you’ve got a story to wow generations to come.

3. Pier One

Pier One is more of an iconic location than a scenic one, and it is instantly recognisable by all. No matter where you come from, the Sydney Harbour Bridge's amazing backdrop is ideal for a special occasion such as a proposal. Here, you can plan a rather traditional proposal that’s undoubtedly going to stick with you and your partner for years to come. Make a reservation for two at one of the many wonderful restaurants at the pier, pick a spot on the deck, and when the time is right, you know what’s to be done. You can even go the extra mile and have the restaurant hook you up with soft classical music as you make the choice of a lifetime.

4. Cradle Mountain

Get away from the bustle of the city: plan a weekend out with your partner, and make sure they’ve got no wind about your proposal! Once amidst the enchantingly silent forests around Cradle Mountain, wait for the right moment. You could do this in your lovely wooden cottage lit up by the fireplace, or take it a notch up, hike your way up the mountain, and confess your true feelings atop Cradle Mountain’s peak. From the top, be sure to take in the vistas of Dove Lake– the serene waters make for amazing proposal pictures. If you’re feeling adventurous, you could also have a proposal by the lakeside at one of the several huts dotted around Dove Lake.

5. 12 Apostles

A mind-boggling collection of limestone stacks, these have gone by different names over the years, and “12 Apostles” is just what they’re known as worldwide. Either way, it is a simply beautiful space for a proposal to your partner. Creating a stunning coastal setting, it is transcended to a level of divine beauty as the sun rises over the horizon. Whether you’re on the beach or the plateau formation rock nearby, spectacular views are sure to be seen. When you’re here, be sure to pick a time and a spot that’s not frequented by many tourists. You may also want to look at booking a professional photographer because the “Apostles” can be quite hard to photograph in their natural beauty.

To Wrap Up

Australia is a country like no other, with some of the world’s most interesting spaces. A marriage proposal signifies a lifetime of togetherness, so why not make it a day to remember for the rest of your lives? So, where will you propose to your partner?
