    Yarn

The weight of yarn that you use will result in a certain size for your amigurumi.  If you'd like to make a bigger doll, definitely go with super bulky weight yarn!  Conversely, for an itty bitty one, use thin yarns.  Make sure you use a hook size suitable for the yarn you're using, meaning you are able to crochet without gaps between the stitches.
