Facial Washcloth (Free Crochet Pattern) - Tea Rose Spa Set, Part 4 of 4

Hello my fellow crocheters!

Here's my facial washcloth design, and I'm pleased to share it with you!  It's part of my Tea Rose Spa Set, which includes three other free patterns.  Click the image below to see and read about the entire set!

The facial washcloth featured in this post can be crocheted in just an hour of time!  It features the easy and beginner-friendly Suzette stitch, which makes a lovely texture, especially with the Lily Sugar n' Cream yarn that I used.  I think it was the perfect choice, because the yarn feels so durable, perfect for this spa set!

I must point out that this little square towel would make an excellent gift for so many occasions!  They're great as a Mother's Day gift, birthday gift, end-of-the-year Teacher Appreciation gift, retirement gift, or a "just because" gift for anyone who could use a pick-me-up.  Gift it with a lovely facial cleanser or a cute bar of soap, and it'll make such a wonderful present.  These can also make fantastic products to sell at a craft fair, too!

And, if you so please, this versatile pattern can also be worked into a dishcloth, or a square rug.  If you'd like to pursue the rug idea, I'd recommend using bulkier yarn (or hold the yarn doubled) and a larger hook that is suitable with the yarn weight!

Introduction:
The Tea Rose Spa Set is designed to pamper and invigorate the skin, body, mind, and spirit. This collection of reusable, eco-friendly skin care essentials and spa tools includes a crochet face scrubby (make up remover pad), bath pouf, soap saver pouch, and facial washcloth. All designs are quick and easy, and suitable for beginners. There is no sewing or attaching of pieces needed; all items are worked in one piece.
The face scrubby includes a special puff stitch worked in the round, and can be crocheted in 15-20 minutes! It can be a great stash buster if you have some extra cotton yarn lying around. The bath pouf (“loofah”) is very quick to work up as well, taking only about 45 minutes, and uses less than one full skein of the Lily Sugar n’ Cream yarn in this pattern. The mesh soap saver pouch (or, soap holder bag) has a nifty little drawstring that fits a standard bar of soap, and takes only 30 minutes to crochet. Lastly, the facial washcloth can be whipped up in an hour’s time, and features the beautiful – but oh, so easy – Suzette stitch!
This gift set is perfect as a Mother’s Day gift, birthday gift, teacher gift, retirement gift, or even an appreciation “thank you” gift for anyone that could use some pampering and self-care! They’re also great for selling at craft fairs.

    Materials:

    ~ FACIAL WASHCLOTH PATTERN ~

    MAIN SECTION

Start with the main yarn color (tea rose).

    Ch 30.
R1: In the 2nd ch from the hook: sc, dc. (Sk a st, [sc, dc] in next st) across, until you reach the last st. Insert just one sc in the last st.
R2: Ch 1, turn. Sc and dc in first st. (Sk a st, [sc, dc] in next st) across, until you reach the last st. Insert just one sc in the last st.
    R3-R23: Repeat R2.

Tip: I stopped at R23 for my washcloth to be a perfect square of 9” x 9” without the border. If you crochet very tightly or loosely, you may have to add or crochet fewer rows to make sure you end up with a square as well. Or, if you’d like a rectangle instead, add or reduce rows until you have your desired length.

    Fasten off.

    BORDER

Start with the inner border color (white).

Attach yarn to the first sc of R23 (or whichever row you stopped at for the main section).
R24: Ch 1, sc in same st. Sc across the straight edge. (At the corner: [sc, ch, sc] all in same st. Then, sc across the straight edge) x 3. In the last st of the entire round: sc, ch, join with a sl st to the first sc in R24.
Switch to the outer border color (camomile).
    R25: Repeat R24.

Fasten off and weave in the ends.
