Bath Pouf (Free Crochet Pattern) - Tea Rose Spa Set, Part 2 of 4

by - April 25, 2019

Hello my fellow crocheters,

Here's my bath pouf design, and I'm pleased to share it with you!  It's part of my Tea Rose Spa Set, which includes three other free patterns.  Click the image below to see and read about the entire set!

The bath pouf goes by a few different names, such as body scrubby, loofah, bath sponge, and shower sponge.  But whatever you'd like to call it, I think we can all agree that it's a wonderful product to have... and having it handmade with love is just 10x better!

Awesome things about this design is that it's super easy and beginner-friendly, with only THREE ROUNDS of crocheting, using the basic stitches of chain, single crochet, double crochet, and slip stitch!  And, can you believe it takes only 45 minutes to make one?  A pretty sweet deal to me!

The bath pouf takes up less than one skein of Lily Sugar n' Cream yarn.  I used the 'Camomile' color, which is actually in Lily Sugar n' Cream's "scented" series...and it smells absolutely heavenly and calming!  I low-key could NOT stop sniffing my project as I crocheted it.... Shhh!  I'm also very glad I chose this 100% cotton yarn because it feels so durable, and I think it worked beautifully for a loofah.

Lily Sugar n' Cream yarn in the colors Camomile and White.

I must point out that this bath pouf would make an excellent gift for so many occasions!  It's great as a Mother's Day gift, birthday gift, end-of-the-year Teacher Appreciation gift, retirement gift, or a "just because" gift for anyone who could use a pick-me-up.  Gift them with a cute bar of soap or sweet body wash, and who wouldn't love that?!  Bath poufs can also be great items to sell at a crafts fair, too.

Introduction:
The Tea Rose Spa Set is designed to pamper and invigorate the skin, body, mind, and spirit. This collection of reusable, eco-friendly skin care essentials and spa tools includes a crochet face scrubby (make up remover pad), bath pouf, soap saver pouch, and facial washcloth. All designs are quick and easy, and suitable for beginners. There is no sewing or attaching of pieces needed; all items are worked in one piece.
The face scrubby includes a special puff stitch worked in the round, and can be crocheted in 15-20 minutes! It can be a great stash buster if you have some extra cotton yarn lying around. The bath pouf (“loofah”) is very quick to work up as well, taking only about 45 minutes, and uses less than one full skein of the Lily Sugar n’ Cream yarn in this pattern. The mesh soap saver pouch (or, soap holder bag) has a nifty little drawstring that fits a standard bar of soap, and takes only 30 minutes to crochet. Lastly, the facial washcloth can be whipped up in an hour’s time, and features the beautiful – but oh, so easy – Suzette stitch!
This gift set is perfect as a Mother’s Day gift, birthday gift, teacher gift, retirement gift, or even an appreciation “thank you” gift for anyone that could use some pampering and self-care! They’re also great for selling at craft fairs.

    NOTES (Read before beginning):

    1. The pouf will naturally curl and take form as you crochet, due to the heavy double crochet increases that are being made in R2 and R3.
    2. If desired, follow along with the video tutorial below.

    LET'S BEGIN!

Start with the handle color yarn (white).

R1: In a MR: sc 20, ch 40 (or however long you want your handle to be), sl st. Join with a sl st to the first sc. (20 sc, 40 ch)

Switch to the pouf color yarn (camomile).

R2: Ch 3 (counts as the first dc), dc 3 in same st. Dc 4 in each st around. Join with a sl st to the 3rd ch on the starting ch-3. (80 dc)
Tip: Weave in the ends now. As pouf gets larger, it gets harder to weave in ends from R1-R2.

R3: Ch 3, dc 3 in same st. Dc 4 in each st around. Join with a sl st to the 3rd ch on the starting ch-3. (320 dc)

Fasten off and weave in the ends.
