Pattern ideas

This easy, versatile, and multipurpose pattern allows you to crochet ANY size square or rectangle. Thus, you can use it to create so many patterns. Here are a few ideas: 
  • Potholder 
  • Dishcloth
  • Facial washcloth
  • Placemat
  • Cup coaster or mug rug
  • Pillow cover
  • ...and more!

Yarn

    For a functional potholder, it's best to use 100% cotton yarn to withstand heat and higher temperatures. Do NOT use acrylic yarn, as they can melt! Cotton is also a popular choice for kitchen knits because it's easy to wash and dry. 

    I recommend the following yarns, which are all 100% cotton and medium weight 4 yarns:

    Recommended potholder size: 7” x 7”
    Note: This pattern can be adjusted to any size square or rectangle.

    Level of Difficulty:

    ★★☆☆☆ Familiar Beginner. Requires familiarity with stitches used (below).

    Stitches/Terms Used:

    • FO = fasten off
    • ch = chain
    • sl st = slip stitch
    • hdc = half double crochet
