Pattern Testers Wanted for: Mosaic Goldfish!

Dear fellow crocheters,

I'm on the lookout for a small group of pattern testers who can help me out with testing my newest amigurumi design: Mosaic Goldfish!

This pattern:

  • Is no-sew
  • Easy and fast to work up
  • Includes 4 fish scale designs for the mid-section that you can choose from
  • Is super customizable

I've designed it using Hobbii Friends Cotton 8/4 and 8/8, and also used Darn Good Yarn's super bulky chenille velvet yarn, but it also looks great with other yarn weights and fibers.

If you're interested, please read the information below for the requirements of this test, and how to apply.  (Don't delay, the sign-up form will be sent out to my mailing list on May 13th, 2023 at 12pm PST!)

What is pattern testing?

Pattern testing is big favor that I'm asking of interested crocheters to help me with, to make sure my pattern is well-written and clear before it gets published!

I'm a beginner. Can I test?

While I love beginners, this project has a tight deadline and so I will require experienced testers for this.  If you are a beginner, I recommend taking your time and starting with beginner-friendly patterns without having any time pressure.  (Feel free to check out my free pattern page, which contains patterns that are mostly beginner-friendly!)

Which materials are needed for this test?

  • Any yarn that has clear stitch definition, such as cotton or acrylic (please avoid using velvet yarn, blanket yarn, or fluffy yarn)
  • A suitable size hook for your yarn of choice, meaning it will produce tight stitches without gaps in-between
  • Fiberfill stuffing
  • Plastic safety eyes
  • Yarn needle
  • Scissors

Note on Alternative Materials: You're welcome to embroider eyes instead of using plastic safety eyes if desired. You can also add embellishments (e.g., beads) or embroidered details as well, as long as it doesn't detract too much from the scales.

What are the testing requirements?

As a tester, you will be expected to do the following:
  • Have the materials (or alternative materials) on hand and ready to go
  • Finish crocheting this (approximately) 1-hour project within a week's time, without modifying any part of the pattern
  • Crochet at least TWO (2) fish with different scale designs.
  • Read and understand written patterns in US Terminology
  • Proofread the written pattern for errors and typos
  • Provide feedback about the pattern, such as recommendations for improvement
  • Take clear photos of the finished product under natural lighting
  • Allow me to share photos of your finished product on my blog and social media sites (I will credit you as the crocheter, of course!)
  • Share the finished photos on your own social media (Facebook, Instagram), a crochet or amigurumi doll group page, and/or Ravelry when the final pattern is released

Here are important dates for this test:

  • Test sign-up form: May 13th, 12pm (PST)
  • Testers selected on: May 15th (if you are chosen, you will receive an email from me)
  • Deadline to complete the test: May 22nd, 11:59pm (PST)

How do I sign up?

If you're ready to sign up to be a tester, sign up for Sweet Softies' mailing list (where I send out pattern testing opportunities and freebies) and watch out for an email coming your way on May 13th, 12pm PST!

Thank you so much for your offer to help me, and I look forward to selecting a tester soon!

Best wishes,
