Mini Sweater Christmas Ornament (Free Crochet Pattern & Video Tutorial)

Dear fellow crocheters,

I'm so happy to share with you a very special design that I made.  This is the Mini Fair Isle Sweater, a Christmas tree ornament that was specially created for my baby girl's very first Christmas.

Links

I made it in two sizes: a small and a large!  I can't decide which one I like better.  I feel that the teeny ones are more cutesy, and the larger one looks a bit more realistic.  What do you think?

For reference, here's how tiny it is... the SMALL Sweater is 2.5 inches in height.

The LARGE Sweater that I made is a bit bigger -- 3 inches in height.  However, both are still soooo little compared to a regular-sized sweater, of course!

Here are some cool things about this sweater pattern:
  • Crocheted in one piece (no sewing!)
  • Beginner-friendly
  • Quick to work up
  • Comes with a video tutorial
  • Uses only yarn scraps
  • Customizable with so many color combinations

The materials are simple; you really don't need much to create this petite sweater.  I used some generous skeins here, but you can even make do with yarn scraps since it's so small.  (And I don't know about you, but I always love scrap yarn kinda projects!)

Ideas & Inspiration

Here are some ideas on how to use this project.
  • Attach a hanging loop to turn it into a Christmas tree ornament
  • Make a few to hang on a garland for cozy décor
  • Glue a magnet to the back to stick to your fridge
  • Attach to gift tags for presents
  • Attach to a keychain to make it into a charm
  • Sew to a quilt or other project as an applique
  • Crochet it with your favorite sport’s team colors
  • Recreate your favorite sweater
