The Sweet Softies' Princess Collection is a line of crochet dolls inspired by Disney Princesses! Take a look at what is currently available, and stay tuned for more members coming up.
Features
These crochet dolls have detailed features that allow them to have some realistic qualities, such as protruded toes and differentiation between the hands and arms. Each princess is designed to resemble their iconic looks. Regarding construction, they are worked seamlessly in the round and are incredibly low-sew. Most if not all dolls only require sewing to attach the hair cap to the head.
Yarn
These princess dolls are designed using Hobbii's super bulky weight plush yarn, making it work up quickly while resulting in a soft, velvety texture that is perfect for cuddling with. The exact yarns I like to use from Hobbii include: Baby Snuggle, Honey Bunny, and Toucan. Using these yarns will result in a large doll of approximately 10-11" in height.
For smaller dolls, use this same pattern with thinner yarns, such as medium weight 4 yarns. You can use "normal yarn" of a common fiber, such as cotton or acrylic. These would create crisp stitch definition and resemble traditional amigurumi!
My worsted weight yarn recommendations include:
- Lion Brand Heartland (100% acrylic with beautiful, heathered yarn)
- Lion Brand's 24/7 Cotton Yarn (100% cotton and will produce crisp stitch definition)
- Brava Worsted or Caron Simply Soft (100% acrylic, sturdy, and pretty good bang for your buck!)
