Rosie Rue the Witch · Amigurumi Crochet Pattern (with free Witch's Hat pattern!)

Meet Rosie Rue the Witch! She's a playful, witchy gal that you'll not only have lots of fun crocheting but getting to know! Scroll down for her story, as well as the free pattern to make her enchanting Witch's Hat!

First, here's a look at Rosie Rue, who's practically no-sew except for attaching her hair cap to her head!

Rosie Rue's Story

Deep in the heart of Whimsy Wood, where the mushrooms giggle and the fireflies sing lullabies, lives a teeny-tiny witch with a heart as big as her floppy hat! Meet Rosie Rue, the sweetest spellcaster you'll ever crochet.

Rosie isn't your typical witch—she doesn't cackle or brew trouble. Instead, she stirs up kindness in her cauldron, crafting potions for sweet dreams, courage in a bottle, and giggle-drops for gloomy days. Her best friends include a talking teacup, a bashful bat named Button, and a sleepy black cat who always rides in her satchel during broom rides.

Every autumn, Rosie Rue throws the coziest Moonlight Tea Party for her forest friends. With a flick of her wand (and a sprinkle of sugar), pumpkin scones rise to perfection, teapots fill themselves, and tiny twinkling lanterns light up the trees.

Whether she's mending spiderwebs for her arachnid neighbors or knitting scarves for chilly squirrels, Rosie reminds us that the most powerful magic is kindness... and a touch of yarn.

Now it’s your turn to bring Rosie Rue to life—stitch by stitch, spell by spell! 🧶🪄

About the Pattern

  • Large 15 inch plush doll
  • Ragdoll-style body with dangly arms and legs
  • Low-sew (body is completely no-sew; only the hair cap needs sewing to the head)
  • Design features: defined boots, striped socks, dress, pointed Witch's hat, braided hair
  • Perfect as a Halloween gift or decor, as well as a Fall craft fair product
  • Style: spooky cute, witchy, kawaii, fairytale, whimsical

Recommended Yarn

Designed with soft plush yarn, it’s a very generously large and cuddly size for children! I used chenille velvet yarns from Hobbii, including Toucan Sprinkle, which adds some specks of contrasting color to each skein. It makes the finished product look a little extra mysterious and magical!

I use these super bulky weight 6 yarns with a 5mm hook. However, you can also use thinner yarn (like DK or worsted weight) with a smaller hook to create a smaller doll!
