How to Enjoy a Stress-Free Break to Las Vegas

Bright neon lights, glittering entertainment and vibrant energy – a trip to Las Vegas comes across as one that isn’t for the faint of heart. Bustling casinos, 24/7 crowds, and thrilling nightlife, it's easy to see why Las Vegas is known as the Entertainment Capital of the World!

But is it really possible to find a little slice of serenity in Las Vegas? Sure, you’ve probably come for the nightlife and the casinos and a few unique experiences in this vibrant city, but seeking refuge and a little relaxation during your trip is something that should definitely be encouraged. Few people realize that there is in fact a tranquil side to this bustling metropolis. Maybe you just want a break from the crowds, you’re hoping to include a little nature in your trip, or a peaceful spa escape, Las Vegas has got you covered. Here’s how to enjoy a stress-free break in Las Vegas.

Choose the Right Accommodation

Las Vegas is home to thousands of beautiful hotels, resorts, and exclusive boutiques, however, it’s important to do plenty of research before you book, not only so you can get a good deal on a hotel room, but also so that the accommodation you choose matches your needs. Start by considering your needs, if you’re looking for a resort or hotel that prioritizes health and wellbeing, then look for features like spa facilities, private pools and exclusive dining areas that are for hotel guests only. Or if you want to enjoy the excitement of a traditional Las Vegas hotel but would prefer to enjoy some downtime away from the crowds when needed, consider staying off The Strip. These won’t be as busy and you’ll also find cheaper prices.

Craft an Itinerary

Of course vacations are all about enjoying the moment with a sprinkle of spontaneity, but having a general plan of how you’re going to spend your time in Las Vegas can help you to avoid unnecessary stress. Take some time to research the attractions you want to experience, the shows you want to see and the activities that you cannot miss. You can book tickets in advance and then work in some downtime where you can unwind and take a breather from all the excitement and crowds. Prebooking is always recommended in Vegas!

Try Avoiding the Crowds

Did you know that Las Vegas welcomed over 40 million visitors in 2024? And figures expected for 2025 are set to be record breaking! So, with that many visitors spread out across the year, you can expect large crowds and lots of noise! For some, making your way through constant throngs of people, whether on The Strip, in casinos or at attractions can be quite stressful and overbearing, particularly if you’re staying multiple days. Thankfully, there are plenty of ways you can avoid most of the crowds - check out my suggestions:
  • Venture Beyond The Strip: The Strip is the beating heart of Vegas but there’s so much to do elsewhere in the city. Try heading downtown to the historic part of the city, or the Arts District where you’ll find trendy galleries, restaurants and hidden gems! If you need a break from the Strip but want to keep the energy high, consider spending an afternoon at Atomic Golf, arguably the closest golf range to readers' location in Las Vegas. This driving range offers not only top-notch golfing experiences with fun games and competition but also vibrant nightlife vibes, interactive tech, and fantastic food options. It’s a perfect way to unwind while still soaking in the Vegas excitement—without casino crowds!
  • Try Off-Peak Hours: Visiting certain attractions in the early morning or on weekdays can help you avoid the crowds and keep stress levels down.
  • Book in Advance: Booking in advance means skipping the queues! You could also consider express passes or even VIP experiences for expedited entry.
  • Use Tech to Your Advantage: Making use of tech can help you avoid throngs of people at hotels, taxi lines, and even avoid the busiest places. Use online hotel-check services on your phone, use ride sharing apps to avoid queues waiting for cabs, and check out business information online to see how busy certain attractions are in real time.
  • Protect Your Belongings: For some, the idea of being pickpocketed or being in large crowds can make them feel vulnerable and stressed. To combat this, take precautions by securing your valuables in hidden pockets, money belts or bags with secret linings and anti-theft straps.

Dealing With the Heat

It’s easy to forget that Las Vegas is in the middle of the desert! And that means visitors can expect soaring temperatures and searing heat throughout most of the day. This can also mean higher levels of stress, especially if you’re making your way through crowds. Here are my top tips for staying comfortable.
  • Always stay hydrated: Keep a bottle of water with you at all times. You’ll find plenty of free refill stations in hotels and resorts throughout Las Vegas.
  • Wear the Right Clothing: Loose fitting clothing made of breathable fabrics is always best if you’re walking around in the Vegas heat.
  • Protect Yourself from the Sun: Sun protection is crucial if you’re spending time outdoors. Remember to apply sunscreen (throughout the day) and wear a hat.
  • Head Indoors: Almost everywhere in Las Vegas is air conditioned, so consider spending as much time as you can cooling off in places like malls, museums, and shows during the hottest parts of the day.
  • Head to the Pool: The hottest parts of the day are often best spent at your hotel pool or in public waterparks.

Staying Within Your Budget:

Naturally, coming to Vegas means spending money. But spending over your budget or worrying about your finances during your visit will make you feel stressed and under pressure. To keep the stress levels at bay, consider taking full advantage of free activities like the Bellagio Fountains, the Botanical gardens, and the Fremont experience. Venturing off the strip means you can dine like the locals do and enjoy a delicious meal without breaking the bank. Or consider investing in a buffet pass where you can dine in various restaurants throughout the day at your leisure. Remember, gambling responsibly and within a certain budget is the easiest way to keep your money in check!

Final Thoughts…

Las Vegas is a full-on, high-energy destination that guarantees a great time for everyone. However, knowing how you can keep your stress levels down during your visit is key to enjoying yourself and making the most of your trip. Would you visit Las Vegas?
