Last year, I crocheted Juniper the Jellyfish and posted her pattern for free on my blog. She's a very cheery, pink jelly that has since then gotten the pleasure of seeing her siblings pop up from all over the world as many of you began making her pattern!
Well, here's a sweet little surprise...
Juniper has a little baby jelly!
Doesn't she look even happier with her baby?
It was so much fun making her tiny baby jelly! This little jelly worked up so quickly due to his mini size, and now we see him snuggling happily with his proud mama.
Like Juniper, he is multi-colored and has six tentacles! Instead of pink, he is purple, so I'm guessing Daddy Jelly was probably a shade of blue.
Anyhow, the ends of Baby Jelly's tentacles are little curly-Qs like Mama's, but it straightens out a bit as it nears the top of its body. I find that this design makes the tentacles look a bit more natural and gives them some ease, as opposed to being tightly curled and wound-up from start to finish.
The Yarn I Used
For this project, I used the Amigo XL yarns from Hobbii! They come in so many wonderful shades, which make them great options for making colorful amigurumis. I've enjoyed crocheting a cute mermaid out of Amigo XL yarns as well, which I'm excited to share with you on my blog soon!
Make this project for...
Anyone who would LOVE these cute jellies! I think they make really wonderful baby shower gifts, as they're the perfect Mommy-and-me pair. Little ones love cuddling crochet jellies with long tentacles, which can act as a soothing and comforting feeling. If you make this for newborn babies, infants, or young children, simply make sure you're not using plastic safety eyes since they can be a choking hazard. It's best to embroider eyes on instead.
Other than being awesome nursery decor, these jellies can be a fun children's play toy as well, or a Christmas holiday gift or birthday present. They're also wonderful options as crafts fair products with their fun, multi-colored looks!
I also love that this is a unisex, gender-neutral animal doll that can be enjoyed by boys, girls, and everyone in-between!
