Kitchen Hand Towel (Free Crochet Pattern)

Dear fellow crocheters,

I'm super excited to share with you my new design, the Kitchen Hand Towel!  It's a quick and easy beginner-friendly crochet pattern.  With a buttoned strap, it can easily be hung on a rod in a kitchen or bathroom.

This hand towel is the perfect home décor project to make as a housewarming gift, thank you or appreciation gift, or birthday present.  It’s also great to make for selling at craft fairs!

Here are the measurements...

Height: 18 inches
Width: 13 inches

However, I must tell you that it can easily be customized!  The length of the towel or straps can be changed simply by adding or decreasing rows.

You can also customize this project by using different yarn color combinations or attaching a fancy button to create a unique look.

I do recommend using 100% cotton yarn so that it absorbs water and maintains its shape well.  The yarn I used was Bernat Handicrafter Cotton Twists in “Green Twists” and Lily Sugar ‘n Cream in “Sage Green."

Note: If you’d like a longer strap, repeat R46 until you reached the desired length.  For a shorter strap, crochet fewer rows than R46.  Continue with the last two rows of this pattern to form the buttonhole.

R48: Ch 1, turn. Insert 5 dc into the ch-2 gap. Sl st into the last st. FO and weave in the ends.

~ FINISHING INSTRUCTIONS ~

  1. Attach yarn to the right side of the towel, where the color change began in R25.
  2. Sc around the entire ‘Towel Top’ edge for a tidy look, then FO and weave in the ends.
  3. Sew a wooden button to the top, and weave in the ends.
  4. Fold the buttonhole strap down to fasten it to the button.
