Looking for the perfect birthday gift to crochet for a loved one? I've got you! Here's my latest free crochet pattern...the cute Leggy Birthday Cake!
The Leggy Birthday Cake is a Jellycat inspired amigurumi pattern featuring a colorful dessert with legs. It makes a cute bday gift for foodies with a sweet tooth!
This doll is designed with bulky weight 5 chenille velvet yarn for a soft squishy look, and comes out to be similar in size (approximately 4.5" in height/width without including the candle) to Jellycat plushes. However, it can also be crocheted with thinner yarn weights, cotton and acrylic fibers, and suitable hook sizes to produce a smaller keychain or bag charm sized plush.

The printable includes four background color choices: multi-colored (pictured in the sample below), pink, yellow, and blue.
Recommended Yarn
This adorable amigurumi is designed with Posh Twist yarn, which is a super plush and soft bulky weight 5 yarn. It works up fast and produces generously-sized amigurumis with fewer stitches compared to thinner yarns! Some other great plush yarn choices that would work for this pattern include Baby Snuggle, Honey Bunny, and Toucan. I also use a 5mm crochet hook for all of these plush yarns.
While this pattern is designed with plush yarn for that plush, squishy look, it also works great with cotton or acrylic yarns if that’s what you have on hand. Your amigurumi will just end up smaller, but they'll be the perfect size for a keychain, hanging ornament, or bag charm!
