Russet Deer · Amigurumi Crochet Pattern

Meet the Russet Deer, a whimsical amigurumi companion designed for endless hours of imaginative play. More than just a plush toy, Russet is a complete "dress-up" experience!

This sweet, 15-inch tall fawn comes with a fully removable wardrobe—including a cozy cardigan, tiny overalls, a trendy circle crossbody bag, and a snug scarf. Whether you’re looking to create a cherished birthday heirloom or a magical Christmas morning surprise, Russet is the perfect project for intermediate crocheters who love adding those extra-special details.

You can use different yarn color combinations with this versatile pattern for the outfit and doll, as well as embroider flowers, leaves, or nature and floral motifs on the clothing. You can sew on buttons, ribbons, bows, and other appliques. This stuffed animal is a low-sew project that only requires sewing for the antlers and ears to the head.

Here's a video showing Russet Deer getting dressed up in his various pieces!

Dress-Up Dolls

Love crocheting interactive amigurumis that include removable clothing and accessories? I have many more in my Crochet Doll Patterns with Clothing & Accessories roundup post!

These are so fun for children to play with, and you can crochet multiples of each clothing or accessory piece in different yarn colors and embellishments, designing an entire wardrobe with multiple outfits to choose from!

Recommended Yarn

This doll was designed using the Posh Twist yarn from Lion Brand Yarn. It is a super bulky weight 6 chenille velvet yarn that's super plush, yet sturdy.

This pattern can also be crocheted with other fibers and yarn weights. For instance, you can use thinner weight cotton or acrylic yarn to crochet a smaller and daintier fawn! I think the slightly textured Feels Like Bliss yarn would look lovely for a soft and furry look.

My worsted weight yarn recommendations include:

Uses

  • Birthday gift, baby shower gift, or holiday present
  • High-end product at craft fairs, markets, or boutiques
  • Christmas stocking stuffer
