If you love flowers and amigurumi, here's the perfect project for you! Meet my newest free pattern design... the Potted Flower Baby!
The Potted Flower Baby came along after I had first created the free Flower Baby crochet pattern! This new version does not have legs, and it sits in a cute flower pot, making it perfect as decor around the home or as a desk buddy.
This bright and happy amigurumi doll pattern works up quickly and easily with plush yarn! It is a low-sew crochet pattern that only requires sewing the head to the body; everything else is no-sew.
The back of the head is in a different color from the face, making the doll look presentable from the back view as well! This pattern is easily customizable to create a sunflower, Gerbera daisy, and other types of flowers.
Variations
The PDF pattern includes a couple variations for this pattern! You can choose to make regular doll arms or leaf arms. You can also choose to make a thin trim or a wide trim for the flower pot's upper edge.
The free verison of this pattern will include the doll arms and the thin trim for the flower pot pattern, which is shown in the "sunflower" doll below!
Uses
This Flower Baby makes a sweet, handmade addition to Easter baskets, product for Spring or Summer craft fairs and markets, and as a sympathy gift. It’s also perfect for a wide range of occasions, such as:
- Valentine’s Day
- Mother’s Day
- Teacher Appreciation
- Birthdays
- ...and more!

Recommended Yarn
This adorable amigurumi is designed with Posh Twist yarn, which is a super plush and soft bulky weight 5 yarn. It works up fast and produces generously-sized amigurumis with fewer stitches compared to thinner yarns! Some other great plush yarn choices that would work for this pattern include Baby Snuggle, Honey Bunny, and Toucan. I also use a 5mm crochet hook for all of these plush yarns.
While this pattern is designed with plush yarn for that plush, squishy look, it also works great with cotton or acrylic yarns if that’s what you have on hand. Your amigurumi will just end up smaller, but they'll be the perfect size for a little keychain, hanging ornament, or bag charm!
