Harvey Hare · Amigurumi Crochet Pattern

Hello my fellow amigurumi enthusiasts! Here's another low-sew design for you... meet Harvey the Hare!

Links

Harvey Hare is an amigurumi rabbit pattern that comes with a variety of removable clothes and accessories. He's almost completely no-sew, as the only sewing needed for this bunny is to attach the ears on the head.

This doll set offers a lot of pretend play fun for girls and boys, and would make a lovely birthday gift or Christmas holiday present. He’s the perfect toy for kids who love to dress up their dolls!

Harvey's design comes with removable clothing and accessories, including:
  • A sun hat with ear holes
  • Basket backpack
  • Overalls
  • Pair of boots

I think he's quite cute wearing just his overalls and boots!

About the Pattern

  • Low-sew doll (sewing is only required for attaching the ears to the head)
  • Lots of pretend play and dress-up fun
  • Giftable and cute
  • Height: 7 inches
  • Intermediate pattern, suitable for crocheters familiar with making amigurumi dolls
  • Style tags: nature, woodland, forest, fairytale

Recommended Yarn

This pattern was designed with Yarn Bee Comfy Classic, which is a medium weight yarn made of: 48% Viscose, 30% Polyester & 22% Nylon. I love the beautiful colors in this collection, though I'll admit that this yarn is kind of stretchy and splitty when crocheting. I wouldn't say it's the easiest yarn to work with due to being both splitty and a bit slippery, which slows me down when I crochet. However, I do love how it looks in as the finished result! It provides clear stitch definition and the amigurumi remains soft instead of too stiff (which I find can happen when using cotton and harder acrylic yarns).

I also used this same yarn for crocheting Harvey's friend, Lady Catarina!

It is a bit difficult to get your hands on the Comfy Classic yarn, though. If you're looking for other suitable alternatives to use for this pattern, there are definitely more options!

My worsted weight yarn recommendations are:

Uses

  • Toy for children to play with
  • Nursery room decor
  • Selling at craft fairs, markets, or boutiques
  • Birthday gift, baby shower gift, or Christmas holiday gift for babies, toddlers, and kids
  • Christmas stocking stuffer
