Top Tips To Have An Eco-friendly And Sustainable Cleaning Routine

When it comes to cleaning, many of us think that we have to use harsh chemicals and products in order to get the job done. But this isn't true! In fact, there are a number of ways that you can clean your home in an eco-friendly way. I'm going to share some of our top tips for having an environmentally-friendly cleaning routine. As an environmentally-conscious vegan, this is a very important topic to me. So whether you're looking to go completely green or just want to reduce your impact on the planet, read on for some helpful advice!

Opt For Reusable Cloths

One simple way to be more eco-friendly in your cleaning routine is to ditch the paper towels and opt for reusable cloths instead. Reusable cloths are great wet wipe alternatives that can be used for a variety of tasks, from wiping down surfaces to cleaning up spills. And when you're finished with them, simply pop them in the washing machine and use them again and again. Not only will you save money in the long run, but you'll also be doing your bit for the environment! You can use old t-shirts or towels as rags, or purchase some specifically designed for cleaning.

Make Your Own Cleaning Solutions

You're probably used to reaching for a bottle of store-bought cleaner whenever you need to tidy up. But did you know that you can actually save money and reduce your impact on the environment by making your own cleaning solutions at home? There are a number of recipes online for DIY cleaners that use natural ingredients like vinegar, lemon juice, and baking soda. Not only are these solutions just as effective as store-bought ones, but they're also much better for the planet. So next time you need to restock your cleaning supplies, why not give DIY a try?

Or Buy Eco-Friendly Ones

If you don't have the time or inclination to make your own cleaning solutions, there are plenty of eco-friendly options available to buy. There are now a number of brands that sell cleaning products that are made from natural ingredients and are gentle on the environment. So when you're next doing your grocery shopping, be sure to look out for eco-friendly cleaners! You can recognize them by their green packaging and labels that often say 'biodegradable' or 'recyclable'.

Avoid Bleach

One of the most harmful chemicals that you can use for cleaning is bleach. Bleaches are highly corrosive and can release toxic fumes, so it's best to avoid them if possible. There are a number of eco-friendly alternatives to bleach that you can use, such as hydrogen peroxide or lemon juice. These products are just as effective at cleaning and disinfecting, but are much better for the environment. In addition, they're often much cheaper than bleach, so you'll be saving money as well!

Skip Air Fresheners

Air fresheners are yet another household product that can be harmful to the environment. Many air fresheners contain volatile organic compounds (VOCs), which can have a negative impact on air quality. In addition, many air fresheners use artificial fragrances, which can contain harmful chemicals. So if you're looking for an eco-friendly way to freshen up your home, skip the air fresheners and open a window instead! You should also purchase some houseplants, as they can help to purify the air and make your home smell fresh and natural.

Repurpose Old Toothbrushes

Old toothbrushes are the perfect tool for cleaning hard-to-reach places! Rather than throwing them away, repurpose them as cleaning brushes and use them to clean all those nooks and crannies. You can use them to scrub tiles, clean around the taps, or even get into the crevices of your keyboard. And when you're finished with them, simply pop them in the recycling bin! Using old toothbrushes is a great way to reduce your impact on the environment and save money. In addition, you don't have to buy special cleaning brushes, as old toothbrushes work just as well!

Don't Machine-Dry Your Clothes

One of the best ways to save energy and be more eco-friendly is to air-dry your clothes rather than machine-drying them. Drying your clothes on a washing line or drying rack uses a lot less energy than using a tumble dryer, so it's a great way to save money and reduce your carbon footprint. In addition, air-drying your clothes is much better for them, as it helps to preserve their shape and color. So next time you do a load of laundry, hang your clothes up to dry instead of throwing them in the tumble dryer!

Following these tips, you can easily develop an eco-friendly and sustainable cleaning routine that is not only good for the environment but also save you some money. What are you waiting for? Go ahead and give it a try!
