Poro, League of Legends Plushie (Free Crochet Pattern)

Hello!

Any League of Legends fans out there?  I posted a Poro creation a while back and received some requests for the written pattern.  Unfortunately, I couldn't find my pattern notes for the life of me!  I finally got around to re-creating a Poro, though this one is turned out slightly different from my previous Poro.

Anyhow, thank you for your patience, as it sure took me quite a long time to get this one up and running!

Without further ado, I present to you: the Poro Plushie!

Introduction:
The Poro Plushie pattern provides instructions for crocheting this fluffy, little League of Legends (LoL) character from the Howling Abyss.  This is a quick and easy DIY project that you can make in one afternoon, and can be a real stash-buster as you can easily use scrap yarns for the Poro’s horns and tongue!  Make an army of these adorable Poros and let your lovable herd stand guard on your desk!

Finished Measurements:
  • Approximately 3½ inches wide and 3 inches tall (including the horns)

Level:
  • Familiar beginner. Requires experience working with bulky/chunky yarns, as well as familiarity with stitches used (below) and sewing parts together.

Stitches/Terms Used (US Terminology):
  • MR: magic ring (a.k.a. magic circle, magic loop)
  • Sc: single crochet
  • Inc: increase (two sc in same stitch)
  • Dec: decrease (sc two stitches together)

Materials:

~ CROCHET DIRECTIONS ~

HEAD/BODY

Note: The head/body is a long oval shape, positioned horizontally so that it is wide instead of tall.
Use the 6.50mm hook and the super chunky white yarn.
R1: 6 sc in magic ring. (6 sts)
R2: Inc all around. (12 sts)
R3: (Sc, inc) x 6. (18 sts)
R4: (Sc 2, inc) x 6. (24 sts)
R5-R8: Sc around. (24 sts)
R9: (Sc 2, dec) x 6. (18 sts)
R10: (Sc, dec) x 6. (12 sts)
Stuff the body firmly, but be careful not to stretch the stitches.
R11: Dec around. (6 sts)
Fasten off and weave in the ends.

TONGUE

Use the 2.75 hook and the medium weight pink yarn.
R1: 6 sc in magic ring. (6 sts)
R2: Inc all around. (12 sts)
R3-R4: Sc around. (12 sts)
Fasten off with a long tail for sewing to the body later.

HORNS (x2)

Use the 2.75 hook and the medium weight brown yarn.
R1: 6 sc in magic ring. (6 sts)
R2: (Sc 2, inc) x 2. (8 sts)
R3: (Sc 3, inc) x 2. (10 sts)
R4: (Sc 4, inc) x 2. (12 sts)
R5: (Sc 3, inc) x 3. (15 sts)
Fasten off with a long tail for sewing to the body later. Stuff the horns lightly.

~ FINISHING DIRECTIONS ~

  1. Gather all the crocheted pieces: head/body, tongue, horns (x2).  You will also need a yarn needle, scissors, sewing pins, and plastic safety eyes.
  2. Insert plastic safety eyes in the head/body.  (I inserted one eye between R4-R5 of the head/body, and the second eye between R8-R9.)
  3. Using sewing pins, you can position the tongue and horns onto the Poro’s head/body in a way that you like.
  4. When you are satisfied with the positioning of the tongue and horns, sew them onto the Poro.

That's it, you're done!

Congratulations on finishing the Poro Plushie!
